IBC 2024 Results
Check out the winning Biotopes
Indian Biotope Championship 2024 (IBC) announced its results this week. IBC is a unique competition and one of its kind in India, encouraging hobbyists to showcase biotopes from India.
The Indian Biotope Championship (IBC) 2024 is a pioneering event in India, dedicated to celebrating the recreation of the country's rich and diverse aquatic ecosystems within aquariums. Organized by Mangalore Aquatics in collaboration with Unique Driftwood, this contest invites participants to design biotope aquascapes that authentically represent India's natural habitats, including rivers, lakes, streams, and wetlands, using native plants, fish, and materials.
A biotope refers to a specific natural habitat characterized by distinct environmental conditions and the community of flora and fauna adapted to it. It is important that Indian hobbyists understand and replicate these biotopes. Not only does it help one have a deeper understanding and appreciation of our nation's rich biodiversity, but the various inhabitants' true colours stand out in a biotope's natural environment. By showcasing authentic Indian biotopes in their aquariums, hobbyists create visually stunning displays and contribute to the awareness and conservation of local aquatic ecosystems.
